From the latest report, the company is testing the new model 2018 Fiat Toro SUV. In some cities in Brazil, test prototype of the SUV has been spotted a few times. The SUV segment is where all the excitement is- as it seems from the latest developments in the automobile industry. While some automakers are revamping their existing and popular models, some others are bringing out new models. The Fiat is among the latter class and buzz regarding its upcoming SUV- based on the Toro pickup truck, has gained ground.
2018 Fiat Toro – Muscular and Rugged
There are possibilities of the 2018 Fiat Toro SUV being projected as a replacement for aging Fiat Freemont. The SUV is likely to be smaller in footprint than the truck model. It will have muscular and rugged looks thanks to elements like roof rails, underbody claddings, and skid plates. It is likely to get a panoramic glass roof and there will be several exterior color choices. The company has not said anything about a number of trims.
The cabin may be spacious one and reports suggest it will be a 7 seater SUV. Ambient lighting and multi-zone climate control are expected in the cabin. However, not much is known abut the cargo capacity. It is expected to be equipped with small item storage options. It remains to be seen if the third row is large enough for adults.
Safety Features and Amenities
The 2018 Fiat Toro will get a lot of safety features and amenities will be aplenty too. The model will also get FCA’s enhanced UConnect infotainment system with a touchscreen display. Its airbags and reverse parking sensors make it a safe car to drive on any terrain. The infotainment setup is expected to over support for navigation, Bluetooth, and GPS. However, top safety features like blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist and hill start assist may be made optional. FCA may also offer some customization choices for buyers of the Toro SUV.
Multijet Turbo Diesel Unit
The 2018 Fiat Toro may get the same engine used in the pickup truck namesake. So, the SUV may get the 2.0 Multijet turbo diesel unit or a 1.8 E-Torq Flex gasoline engine. However, not much is known about other parts of the drivetrain yet. However, the engines may be tweaked for better fuel efficiency.
Price and Availability
The specific release date of the upcoming 2018 Fiat Toro is unknown. It may be unveiled either in late 2017. Pricing information has not been revealed by FCA.
The 2018 Fiat Toro SUV is among the much-awaited contenders in its segment. The SUV is expected to be stylish and laden with amenities. There are a few unclear aspects about the model. The powertrain is not yet revealed and same is applicable about the pricing. However, given the success of the Toro truck, there is no reason for the SUV based on it not to hit the bull’s eye. Finally, it will have to stave off competition from category contenders like Mitsubishi Pajero and Skoda Kodiaq.
