2018 Lexus LC 500 and LC 500h Luxury Coupe Review

The 2018 Lexus LC 500 is a high-performance coupe model. The Lexus took a bold move in building a strong reputation on supercars, which does not only excel in comfort but also brings you the luxury. The upcoming LC 500 is a true evolution of the LF-LC concept car and a perfect successor of the V10-engined LFA. Apparently, the vehicle brings the best of Lexus’ engineering work providing the basic platform that will be shared by the upcoming LS models and future rear-wheel drive models. This luxurious coupe is an actual concept car presenting a powerful reality that is yet to be achieved by other automakers within this segment.

2018 Lexus LC 500 – Aggressive Exterior Design

The Lexus seems to be very determined in taking this car to the next level. The aggressive exterior design sets the bar for innovative and athletic body styling that will be carried over for the brand’s future cars. The 2018 Lexus LC 500 coupe’s visual outlook boast of beautiful sensual curves, flowing carbon-fiber roof and an athletic aerodynamic shape, which creates low and wide imposing stance. Currently, there is no Lexus model built on this platform. Apparently, this is an all-new corporate global architecture high-end featured only on luxury cars.

The front fascia of 2018 Lexus LC 500 is also dominated by a massive gradient patterned spindle grille featuring a tightly compressed mesh at the top transitioning to a wider diamond fitted at the bottom. Unlike the traditional Lexus grille styling, the spindle grille does not have a chrome accent at the top. The hourglass shape brings makes the car appear sportier with door panels, front and rear fender flares pulled inwards. A new set of headlights has been fitted into the small overhangs located between the wheels and the bumper. The rear end appears very sporty with elegant LED taillights and double exhaust system.

Hi-tech Interior

The 2018 Lexus LC 500 presents a classy and modern interior featuring spacious cabin. The Lexus engineers have resorted to adopting a steering wheel with varying circumference so as to accommodate different driving styles. The paddle shifters are made from magnesium alloy to allow better grip and improve the feel. However, the steering wheel features the same fine leather upholstery adopted for the seats. This 2-seater coupe also brings a high level of elegance and assertive design with a big 12-inch navigation screen.

At the right side of the screen, there is a round analog clock while HVAC and a section of the audio are positioned at the next level below the screen. The spacious storage compartment is concealed by the pair of cup holders lying below a hinged cover. You get also four-way lumbar support on the ergonomic seats available in supple leather and Alcantara upholstery. Furthermore, the instrument panel gets a new 8-inch TFT LCD circular dial with LFA design.

2018 Lexus LC 500 – Powerful Engine

The 2018 Lexus LC 500 is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine, which delivering a whopping 471 horsepower. It will be paired to 10-speed automatic transmission. It is estimated that the coupe is capable of hitting 60 miles per hour in just 4.4 seconds. Those opting for the LC 500h hybrid gets a 3.5-liter V6 with a multi-stage hybrid system with a 2 motor generator capable of producing 263 kW, equivalent to 354 horsepower. With a battery pack mounted on the rear axle, the hybrid system adds 44 Kw (60 horsepower). Furthermore, the LC 500h should deliver 26 mpg city, 35 mpg highway fuel economy. It will be mated to CVT transmission with an additional four-speed planetary gearbox.

2018 Lexus LC 500 – Debut Date and Prices

The Lexus is yet to announce the official release date and pricing for this coupe. However, we are expecting that the automaker will release date at the end of this year. The 2018 Lexus LC 500 should go for about $92,000 while the LC 500h costs around $96,510.
