The Suzuki is currently undertaking summer drive tests with the next-gen 2018 Suzuki Vitara Facelift. The fourth generation Vitara, which was spied being tested in Sweden, becomes a significantly successfully crossover for the Japanese manufacturer.
Despite the lavish camouflage tape up front, we did notice a mesh grille and a redesigned lower air intake treatment. Besides, there’s a generous array of assistance systems and safety features incorporated into this crossover.
The Suzuki seems to be hiding cosmetic changes at the side and rear, albeit there seem to be no deviations on these sections.
2018 Suzuki Vitara – External and Internal Cosmetics
The 2018 Suzuki Vitara does not convey any revolutionary or radical changes to the exterior design. Since the camouflage largely covers the front fascia, we are safe to assume that this is the section carrying most of the alterations. There is a different design of the grille. The outgoing version’s grille has horizontal slats. But, in the inbound Vitara, we can see a renovated mesh grille with a honeycomb pattern. Air intakes are revitalized, and they are now placed a little lower.
We’ve also noticed a revamped sensor integrated into the car’s front bumper. It tells us that the facelifted Suzuki Vitara is likely to receive a new safety package, such as automatic braking function. The side and rear end of the facelift will remain untapped. The 2018 Suzuki Vitara also brings red projector covers along with the black alloy wheels. The prototype sports new headlights, but the tail lamps are the old ones. It seems the designers are opting for a more three-dimensional look to give the refreshed Vitara a modern touch. Inside, the 2018 Suzuki Vitara Facelift gets upgraded tech features.
We expect to find a new flat-bottomed steering wheel, air conditioning controls and updated instruments in the middle of the dashboard. It has the latest seven-inch infotainment system available with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard from mid-grade trims upwards. The Facelift also comprises several novelties.
These include the likes of reverse parking sensors, keyless entry, dual front airbags and anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution. All these features come as standard across the series.
Under the Hood Expectations
The 2018 Suzuki Vitara Facelift is likely to get its juice from a 1.6-liter four cylinder powertrain. The engine is available with Suzuki’s proprietary BoosterJet technology. It can develop 118 horsepower and 115 pound-feet of torque, which is sufficient to run the sprint from 0-60 mph in 10.2 seconds irrespective of transmission type.
Regarding transmission, the updated Vitara will get either a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional automatic transmission. The Suzuki avails the inbound Vitara Facelift with All-Wheel Drive system comprising a choice of four separate driving modes.
