A conceptive rendering of the new 2018 Volvo S60 has been published online, offering a glance of how the Swedish 3 Series solid luxury cars could look like. It was conceived by the Dutch artist, Remco M, of the RM car design. The new 2018 Volvo S60 is a midget version of the freshly launched Volvo S90 sedan, borrowing heavily from its aesthetics. The Swedish automaker is in the process of refurbishing its deteriorating model line-up. Through their new design, Volvo would like to go head to head with its rivals, giving the BMW 3- Series, Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class a run for their money.
2018 Volvo S60 – Modernized Look:
The Remco’s design is a very dapper sedan in its appearance. In addition to the company’s new face, one can also notice the ‘Thor’s hammer’ LED trademark dashing across the headlight clusters. Large wheels fill up the larger wheel arches, giving the Volvo S60 a very athletic but an exquisite look. The A C-shaped LED taillight strip out in the back is going to be a new feature. Together with the protruding square tailpipes, it completes the Swedish sedan’s clean and premium design. Remco considers it will factor in a similar technology seen in the S90, besides a host of functioning safety aspects and autonomous driving systems. The safety aspect being Volvo’s biggest selling point.
The interior of 2018 Volvo S60 also focuses on restoring the comfort of the seats. It is speculated that Volvo will likely offer a version of its new tablet-style information-entertainment system. This, along with a host of superior components will stand along in competition with its German rivals. We can contemplate a similar styling which is already realized in its big brother S90. In short, it is certain that the new 2018 Volvo S60 will certainly uphold the long-awaited expectations of its loyal fan base.
2018 Volvo S60 – Performance of Engine:
With the new Drive-E 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, the Volvo S60 is expecting to achieve much lower fuel consumption and emissions by downsizing its engine range. An electrically-assisted version of this plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drivetrain, which is proposed to be T6 or T8 performance alternative, is also a possibility that is suggested by the new model. For the power, with these two types of engines that are both supercharged and turbocharged, it can produce up to 345 horsepower, which is quite high for a small sedan like this one.
2018 Volvo S60 – MSRP and Release Date:
The new model will certainly get a price boost. At present, it costs around $35.400 base MSRP for the T5 model, $40.500 for the T5 R-design, $62.000 for the Polestar trim.
There are many indications in the auto market, that Volvo will launch new model by mid-2017. Albeit the production and sales are expected to begin in late 2017, don’t expect it to come out rolling anytime until the next year.
